Two Ways to Help Your Future Tenses
As we have discussed before, learning how to use the different future tenses at the right times in English is quite difficult. This is due to the number of tenses that can be used to describe future actions; sometimes there is only one obvious tense that can be used, while at other times there is more than one option, making it quite flexible.
The first method to help you with your future tenses is to do the following exercise with a partner. One of you has to say something along the lines of, “I’m hungry.” The other then has to respond with an offer; so, in this example, you could reply, “I’ll get you a drink.” Other examples could be:
- I’m thirsty.
- I can’t do my homework.
- I’m cold.
When making offers, you have to respond with “will” as part of the structure.
Another good idea is to talk about what you are going to do at the weekend. When we talk about our plans or intentions, we use “going to;” if you have arrangements at fixed times, you use the present continuous. In this case, it is unlikely that you will use “will” unless you decide to do something in the moment, or if you are making a prediction about the weekend.

A Great Friend
My wife and I have finally found the classes that we were hoping to get in to. We found some english courses in miamithat is on our way home from work, and they are at the perfect time for us. We will not even have to find another babysitter for our son. The babysitter said that she would just keep him for the extra hour or so each week. I can not believe that she offered to do that for us. It is really just so nice of her. She has been such a great friend to us over the years.
